Description

Saalbach-Hinterglemm is a traditional ski resort with plenty of charm. It is a convenient resort in that all lifts are near the centre. The lift-system is also impressive meaning reduced queue times and quick access to the entire ski area.

Saalbach and Hinterglemm are separate villages with their centres being 4km apart and although they haven’t quite merged, they are more often than not considered as one. A ‘ski circus’ links the two resorts with lifts and runs on both sides of the valley.

Although the altitude isn’t that high, with most slopes below 1900m, the snow making is extensive and covers 91 % of the area.

For expert skiers or snowboarders there are few challenging slopes but if the snow is good, the off-piste can be worth exploring. For intermediate skiers or snowboarders it can be paradise. There are plenty of blue runs for cruising, with some being more challenging allowing intermediates to push themselves. Saalbach has two sunny beginner slopes that are right next to the village, but Hinterglemm has more spacious nursery slopes which are separate from the main slopes.
