Description
Chamonix is located in South-Eastern France in the Rhone-Alpes region, and is one of the oldest ski resorts in France. You can enjoy stunning views from any point in Chamonix, especially of the majestic Mont Blanc.

Chamonix offers something for everyone, but is well known for its tough terrain and extensive off-piste. With 90% of the ski area above 2.000m the resort is snow-sure and therefore an ideal destination for the beginning or end of season.  There are 5 main ski areas, linked by an efficient bus system.

For experts, Chamonix is the ideal resort from which to tackle off-piste (known for its deep snow), as well as the challenging pistes including Vallee Blanche.

For intermediate and beginner skiing or snowboarding, you should head to the Balme area above Le Tour which is good for cruising and is often less crowded.

There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Chamonix (mostly the hotels), and the après ski is great, if you know where to go! There is also plenty of off-slope activities with museums and libraries being just some of them.
