Les Deux Alpes is situated in the French Isere region 44 miles southeast of Grenoble. It has the largest glacier in Europe and is one of the oldest French ski resorts. The name is such as the resort is made up of two Alps (Mont de Lans and Venosc). The resort is 2km long with hotels, bars and shops aligning the main road which creates a very lively and buzzing thoroughfare. Venosc (at the southern end and fourthest from the resort entrance) is full of character and is home to the best hotels, bars and restaurants and some idyllic chalets. It also has the least through traffic so is better for families with small children.

The slopes are extensive in Les Deux Alpes, although the lack of trees means the ski area is exposed to the elements, although the many south facing slopes are ideal for those blue bird days! For those more adventurous skiers and snowboarders there is a boarder-cross, park and half-pipe with elements for all levels and there is even a mile-long couloir to jump into (we want picture evidence if you attempt this!) You can also access the famous off-piste area of La Grave. Access is easy from all areas of the resort, with the diable gondola in the Venosc area, and the jandri express in the middle of the resort near many of the apartments.

If you are looking for a place to party in Les Deux Alpes then there are a great number of pubs and bars on the main strip. Smithy's Tavern is well wroth a viist as it is the largest bar in town and often holds live DJ's and bands which attracts big parties and a lot of alpine fun.
