Courmayeur in the Italian Alps is a charming old village with a car-free centre, stylish shops and bars and stunning views. It is the ideal place for a short break and also boasts excellent restaurants both on and off the mountain.
For experts there is plenty of challenging off-piste terrain to explore, which will be more enjoyable than staying on piste, which is limited for more experienced skiers and snowboarders. For intermediates there are some nice red runs to enjoy, although these are limited. For more timid intermediates there are a vast array of confidence building blue runs. For beginners Courmayeur can be tricky. The free beginner’s lifts are at the top of the mountain, but once there the slopes are great.
Après ski is great in Courmayeur with its lively evening scene (more active at weekends). There are plenty of stylish bars to enjoy and some offer live music.
