Verbier is situated in the south-west of Switzerland in the Swiss Alps in the French speaking part of Switzerland. It sits on a wide sunny plateau and boasts spectacular views of the mountain peaks. The resort is has a bustling atmopshere and is mostly attractive, chalet-style buildings although the central areas can become quite congested with traffic. In town you find very good restaurants, the best cocktail bars and a range of designer boutiques. There are three supermarkets, a cinema, butchers and bakers, a large variety of sports shops and also a local sports centre. Verbier offers everything a wintersport town is known for.

Experts will be in heaven in Verbier as it is known for its tough slopes and there is also extensive off-piste. Intermediates won't be as well looked after as experts, as the intermediate slopes in the main area are quite restricted, so milage cover is not that easy, so intermediates should perhaps consider trying to head over to Nendaz for the day to explore some more slopes. Beginners can enjoy the nursery slopes in town (Les Esserts, Le Moulins and Le Rouge), you can then progress to the blue runs at La Chaux, Lac des Vaux or Savoleyres.

Verbier is a fashionable resort with a lively nightlife with more young visitors than other Swiss resorts. Apres ski is also popular here with many mountain bars bursting into live as the skiing draws to a close.
